Victory Under Lordship
“But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57
What is “Lordship”? It is who Jesus becomes when you surrender to Him as the God who saved your soul and is now allowed to tell you how to live. Why? Because He knows what is eternally best for you and me. He is allowed to tell us what to do and what not to do because He earned that right. But He does not claim that right until you willingly recognize His Lordship and declare Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;” It is who Jesus Christ is because He is God and creator of the universe. He is self-sustaining. He is eternal. He is Sovereign. He is King of kings and LORD of lords. So of course, He is LORD over my life and your life. But because God is Just, True and Immutable; He does not “Lord it over us” or force us to accept it. He calls us, woos us, and draws us to Himself, knowing He is Best for us. God respects our free will and ability to choose. And God desires you and I to choose HIM. He is worthy to be chosen.
